Mold in Air Vents?

2/24/2020 (Permalink)

Mold is found in every environment, and mold spores reproduce rapidly when moisture is present.

Mold in air ducts most commonly occurs when there is moisture inside the ductwork. As cool air flows through the vents on hot days, the moisture in the air can condense inside the air vent. Mold spores are generally air borne, or spread through air.

Take Precautions

SERVPRO of Westlake Professionals handles water damages every day and now prompt action is required to prevent mold growth. If there is an ongoing moisture problem in the building, be alert for:

  • The presence of visible mold.
  • Strong musty odors, which may indicate mold is present.
  • Any evidence of past moisture problems that might have caused undetected mold growth.
  • Excessive humidity.

These conditions may require the expertise of a qualified Indoor Air Quality/Environmental Professionals to inspect the building for mold growth and water damage problems.
