Flu Checklist

Get your flu shot every year for the best chance of protection. 

Always practice good health habits to maintain your body's resistance to infection.

  • Eat a balanced diet. 
  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Exercise daily. 
  • Manage stress. 
  • Get enough rest and sleep. 

Take these common sense steps to stop the spread of germs:

  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand. 
  • Avoid or minimize contact with people who are sick. 
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. 
  • Cover your mouth and nose with tissues when you cough and sneeze.          

Anyone with a fever or other symptoms of the flu should stay home from work or school until at least 24 hours after the fever has gone (without medications). 

Get a flu shot every year. Vaccinations are one of the most effective ways to minimize illness and death.  

Air Quality Awareness Week!

This years theme is check the AQI and get outside. 

Everyday we inhale thousands of gallons of air. That air also contains tiny pollution particles. Exposure to high levels of ozones and particle pollution is linked to health problems. 

Pollution can come from cars, buses, power plants, wildfires and industries. When pollution reaches a high level the air can be unhealthy. Due to the normal aging process children, older adults and people with lung disease may experience increased health risk from exposure to unhealthy air. Use the air quality index (AQI) to help you understand and what steps you should take to protect yourself. 

You can help reduce pollution by following these steps:

  • Carpool or use public transportation
  • Avoid burning leaves, trash and other materials.
  • Keep your car in good operating condition and get regular tune ups.
